Convergence Spoilers 4: Units

So, after a good night's rest, I'm ready to pick up where I stranded with the convergence spoilers. I have already gathered all the information I could find about the Vectors and the Warcasters, so I still need to handle the units and the solos. This post will be about the offensive units the Convergence can choose from. There is one unit I'm leaving out, but that's because it fulfills more of a support role. you will hear more about it later on this blog!

1. Small-based Units
As we know it right now, there are 4 small based units. We have the Obstructors and the Reductors about whom we know nothing, we have the Optifex Directive (those are in another post) and we have the Clockwork Angels.

  • Obstructors & Reductors
    • Unfortunately, all we have are some pictures. We also know that the Obstructors have Shield Wall and that they can switch between maces and flails.

I guess that's the shieldwall token

The small based infantry in front without the shields are the Reductors

  • Clockwork Angels
    • They have been spoilt here.
    • They are designed to be fast and deadly. Too bad they can only be taken in groups of 3 + their defensive stats are rubbish. A stray AoE will kill them. On the other hand, direct fire will rarely hit them, as they have +2 DEF against ranged attacks (because of their ability called Blade Shield), making them DEF 16. They also are really fast: at SPD 7 with Flight and Reform, they can cross the battlefield really quickly. They also have Advance Deployment. They also make an ideal unit for taking out Incorporeal models because both their melee and their ranged weapons are Magical!
    • The really good news: they look gorgeous:

2. Medium Based Units
This is where it gets interesting, because those three units have already been spoilt right here.

PP has the intension to make medium based units more viable than ever:

  • They are very durable, and being constructs (or at least repairable) Accretion Servitors and Galvanizers can actually repair these 8 wound monsters.
  • Variety: three flavours of heavy infantry, and each can swap between various weapon modes. Also, being a Circle of Orboros player myself, the possibility to choose between turns how the stats of your models look like is *fun*. Needing to make a decision between stats instead of having the stats already also drops down the point cost of the unit. Imagine how much a Warpwolf would cost if it had all the stats he can choose from right away.
  • Variety means flexibility so your expensive unit of medium bases can fulfill different roles during the course of the battle.
So, what are those units anyway? Let's get started.
  • Reciprocators: Those guys were already leaked in the Convergence Trailer. They have a base ARM of 16 and the Shieldwall ability and their purpose is to be the anchor of your battleline. You will need 28 damage to take out one in one shot, and the survivors can be repaired by Galvanizers and Accretion Servitors. Also, they are SPD 5, so they suffer less than say Shocktroopers when advancing and shieldwalling (still slow though). Those are the guys with the spearhalberds (or halberdlances). They can choose between Set Defence (granting them an effective DEF 14 against charge/slam attacks) and Empower, giving them +2 on damage rolls (this equals p+s 14 attacks).

  • Then you have the Eradicators: Robots with bucklers that turn into knifes. They are the answer to infantry swarms, and their weaponmodes grant either +2 ARM (called Shields Up) for ARM 17 and +2 on attack rolls for an effective MAT 9. They also have Side Step, so they can end up 10" away from their initial position.

  • One of the few ranged options in the Convergence Army are the Perforators. They throw Javelins that have Armour Piercing and POW 6 and RNG 6. They can choose between either +2 POW (for POW 8 AP attacks! ) or Snipe (+4 RNG and because the ability is named like that, it means that if there is a caster with Snipe, these guys won't get RNG 14 weapons). Also, these guys have Assault (order) so they have a 14 inch threat range with POW 8 weapons or 18 inch one with POW 6. It should be noted that these guys have RAT 5, so agile targets (like Cygnaran light warjacks with 14 ARM) are harder to catch.

So, that's it for the units! Next installment will summarize all we know about the supportive units the Convergence has to offer!

See you next time.
